Recruitment Company Goes Neutral

MacDonald

Macdonald & Company, the leading professional recruitment consultancy for the property industry and built environment, has announced that it will become carbon neutral. Macdonald & Company have asked Carbon Forestry to assess their carbon emissions, and to manage a programme of carbon offsetting through investment in British woodlands. The company is seeking to offset all carbon emissions relating to its operations, travel and energy costs.

Ramic has recently taken the action to be Carbon Neutral.


 
There were 3 main ‘drivers’ that made the decision easy:
 
1) Understanding our carbon footprint so that we can take action to reduce our emissions and energy costs going forward
2) The environmental issue and the associated feel-good factor. Our staff were very keen too!

3) To demonstrate our ethical and responsible credentials (Corporate Social Responsibility). This is targeted to attract more businesses who have the same values.
The best thing is that it actually cost much less than we thought - comparing favourably with even a very modest marketing campaign!

Caring Panelco puts its lorry fleet into neutral

A NORTH Staffordshire manufacturer is planting more than 4,000 trees a year in a bid to make its business carbon neutral.

Panelco, which makes and distributes laminate products such as chipboard and MDF, has teamed up with Nottingham-based Future Neutral to offset the carbon produced by its delivery trucks.

The firm, which employs 80 people across three sites in Blythe Bridge, Fenton and Hanley, has invested an undisclosed sum in the tree-planting scheme, Carbon Forestry.

Its 28 trucks use some 480,000 litres of diesel every year – which equates to a carbon footprint of 1,263 tonnes.
