Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the variety of plant and animal life in the world or in a particular habitat. A high level of biodiversity is usually considered important and desirable.
Biomass
Biomass is the total quantity or weight of organisms in a given area or volume.
Carbon neutral
Being carbon neutral, or carbon neutrality, refers to having zero total carbon release. It is achieved by balancing the amount of carbon released with the amount sequestered.

Carbon sink
A carbon dioxide (CO2) sink is a carbon store that's increasing in size as it removes carbon from the atmosphere (the opposite of a CO2 source). The main natural sinks are oceans and plants, as well as other organisms that use photosynthesis. These organisms incorporate CO2 into their biomass, then release oxygen into the atmosphere.
Carbon dioxide
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a chemical compound composed of oxygen and carbon. It's a colourless, odourless gas produced by burning carbon and organic compounds and by respiration. It's naturally present in air, and is absorbed by plants during photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is also one of the greenhouse gases.
CSR
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is where organisations consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for their impact on customers, employees, shareholders, communities and the environment in all aspects of their operations.
Ecosystem
An ecosystem is a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.

Greenhouse gases (GHGs)
Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are components of the atmosphere that contribute to the greenhouse effect. They include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and sulphur hexafluoride. The majority of GHGs come from natural sources, but they're also contributed to by human activity.
Sequestration
Carbon sequestration is the process that removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
